Climate Change
06:02
|
|||
I can't help but feel that I'm losing
this battle, it's far to confusing
well heads up looks like we are surrounded
crashed down and now I am grounded
but don't panic this is far from over
I'll carry you back on my shoulders
when this world starts refusing to make sense
there's only one thing that makes a difference
the clock's ticking but I"m moving backwards
something's missing, does it even matter?
the future's never quite how we planned it
I realize yet I hardly can stand it
I"ll hold on to whatever is near me
til this clouds gone and I can see clearly
pull me up when my heads going under
I wake up to the sound of the thunder
do we even know
where this all goes?
give it some time and you'll get there
just close your eyes and breathe in air
just give it time, it gets better
it comes with a change in the weather
let's fast-forward til somebody finds us
a leap towards whatever will bind us
time's moving but we're moving faster
eyes peeled for the coming disaster
the wind's changing and it's getting colder
another season, another year older
I guess that this is all it requires
a temperature drop to bring up the fire
and when it's my turn
I'll see it all burn
cos if there's one thing I've learned
it's to abandon all concern
give it some time and you'll get there
just close your eyes and breathe in air
just give it time, it gets better
it comes with a change in the weather
I'm holding out for a silver lining
this is not our war it's just bad timing
and all these problems and revelations
no way to stop 'em until our days end
just give it time it gets better
just give it time it gets better

The Underdog
02:56
|
|||
you never cease to fail because you're chasing your own tail
there's nothing at the finish line when you get there
something inside you whines because you're running out of time
and everyone is gone but you are stuck here
and something's wrong
it's been too long
and you can't hold this inside anymore
anymore
there's not much you can say when you're locked inside a cage
the sun is out but you can't see it
do everything you can to make them understand
you can't control a fire, you have to free it
and something's wrong
it's been so long
you question everything you know
but don't think twice
it's bad advice
your instincts will take you where you want to go
so take these chances as they come
soak in the light until your numb
there's never not an open door
what are you waiting for?

Rain Song
05:07
|
|||
I won't close my eyes
there's no need for a surprise
the lightening will strike
if it chooses to
I won't say a word
there's no need to sound absurd
these things go unheard
cos I want them to
I'm under your spell
but I'm trapped in this shell
I hope you can't tell that I'm going insane
when I welcome the rain
on top of your care
the storm rolls in from afar
but we're safe where we are
we won't feel a thing
and I wanted to say
that you make the sky bright as day
a symphony of grey
when I heard you sing
I'm under your spell
but I"m trapped in this shell
I hope you can tell that I don't mind the pain
and so bring on the rain
bring on the rain
bring on the rain
bring on the rain
the rain, the rain

If I Was Cold
02:06
|
|||
maybe if I was cold
I'd want someone to hold
but gone are the days that we knew
I'd stay if I still knew how to
and my hands are getting bored
from playing these same old chords
it's all just a pattern in my head
an endless revision of words said
cos now there is nothing left of
like we never even met love
so stop all this pleading
you left me here bleeding alone
and you can't take back
such things as that
we just lost track of time
and lost our place in line
and now this rift defines us both
maybe if I was cold
I'd break off from the whole
there's no reason for me to stay here
and I think that you feel the same dear
cos now there is nothing left of
like we never even met love
and being with you is no fun
when everything is in question
so stop all this pleading
you left me here bleeding
I'm finally seeing
you're not what I'm needing
two broken hearts beating
now I am leaving alone

October
05:45
|
|||
hold up, I'm running behind
I didn't meant to waste all this time
on something I'm still trying to find
in between these melodies and stupid rhymes
October, we left it far behind
all the costumes, candy, cops, and stop signs
it's colder, now you never go outside
just films and books and tracing dotted lines
we counted the birds down by the pond
less each day til all of them were gone
can someone please tell me where they go?
I've asked and asked yet no one seems to know
I'm spending my days like dollar bills
waste it all on alcoholic thrills
I'm pending but time's not standing still
brings us change with every day it kills
you told me it's time to face the facts
you had your chance now there's no going back
I"m empty but why the hell is that?
I've stoked the coals, I've filled the holes and cracks
well it's crystal clear
we've reached the end of our road
but we're still here
without any place to go
well it's crystal clear
we've reached the end of our road
but we're still here
without a place to call home

Comanche Street
04:15
|
|||
it smells like a fire outside
the cool air rises in tides
and fills our lungs with air
and it is freezing but we don't care
on the horizon lights shine
the city buzzes with life
but it is quiet here
the heavy silence numbs my ears
but don't make a sound
the temperature is, it's coming down
but I've got something so warm
cars are passing beneath
the bridge on Comanche Street
headlights blinking below
always thinking "too slow"
so lets take time while we can
before we're covered in plans
I've never felt so complete
with headlights under my feet
winter comes fast
November it, it never lasts
but I've got something so warm
time turns, we're unwound
the wind blows us all around
but I've got something so warm
so warm
so warm
so warm

Icebergs
04:19
|
|||
she works at an are display
tells people what it means all day
the empty frames and shapes of white
all covered in experimental light
beneath the surface there's so much more
her phrase of choice to every door
our eyes are limited at best
to what we all have going on deep down within our chests
and it keeps us up
though it's barely enough
you'll hold it close to you
because it's all that you can do
he has ideas he can't explain
amorphous blobs inside his brain
he works them out when he's alone
translates them into words and then carves them down into stone
we all aren't what we choose to be
we blend into our scenery
sit back until the timing's right
then go out in a blast of flame, light everything in sight
and it keeps us up
though it's barely enough
you'll hold it close to you
because it's all that you can do
cos we're not in control
the friction takes its toll
this thing we're up against
won't take the time to make sense
like icebergs we're always drifting
something below keeps us shifting
we can't control what we're missing
it keeps us floating, keeps us going
it keeps us going, keeps us going
well it keeps us going, keeps us going
it keeps us going

Abby
04:50
|
|||
Abby, where have you been lately?
your hearts somewhere icy and covered in snow
the winter, it left you with nothing
but the spring is coming and home you will go
and you will find there
is reason to compare
the time you had before the dotted lines
alone, driver's seat
the radio repeats
a million different ways to say it's fine
you say it's fine
Abby, these roads do the tearing
the teeth that they're bearing can fill you with fear
but don't hide, there's promise in streetlight
all along the roadside, to make the way clear
just freeze-frame this silly little game
the best won't always be in your rear-view
and you can embrace these little hands
and open up your eyes to something new
to something new
Abigail, can you not tell?
you're not alone in waiting for the end
and we don't know where we will go
but in our minds we picture and pretend
