a wet and rainy day

in swirls of black and grey

I could not help but notice
I could not stop but think
how far away my life still is
from the point of skin and ink

and I guess that I'm just pending
an unfinished work of art
and if it's not worth the time I'm spending
I'll just tear it apart

endure the after party
people you've never met
a prehistoric building
tables pristinely set

I can't define this feeling
as I glance around the scene
I see where paint is peeling
from brown to desperate green

and I guess it's never ending
the old gets covered by the new
and while these colors are still blending
I don't know what to do

cos I don't waste time making plans
I just take it as I can
waiting on an open door
and here's to hoping it may be
something I'll find eventually
and when I do I"ll know for sure
that this is what I'm meant for

but resolve to sit

know they'll never stick
